Day 20: Leftovers Day

31 Days to More Organized Menu PlanningEach week on my menu plan, I schedule a leftovers day.

For us, this day is usually Saturday, because Saturdays are usually casual. We’re usually doing fun stuff, relaxing, or doing some projects around the house.

Naturally, as I said before, we freely allow snacking on leftovers, though the kids don’t usually do that. ;)

After our “leftovers day” and before I go shopping next, I try to clean out my fridge of any stray leftovers to make room for any new groceries, and to prevent any nasty surprises on the back shelf of the fridge. Ew.

Assignment

Think about what day would be the best day of your week to schedule a “scrounge for leftovers” day….and enforce it!

  1. I have a leftovers day worked into our menu planning as well, but I usually do it on Sundays. On Saturdays I try to make a casserole or dish that is large enough to cover two evenings of meals. It makes it much less stressful on Sunday and gives me more time to relax and plan for the week ahead.

That’s a good idea, Jenni! We seem to do something a little nicer on Sundays usually in the crock pot, but leftovers is a great timesaving idea too!
